It's hard to walk into a toy store and not be struck by the utter excitement of children facing such a vast array of games, building sets, race cars, dolls, action figures, arts and crafts, infant toys and stuffed animals.   It's rational to cheer girls on in math, science

hundreds of girls will flock to the California Institute of Technology to celebrate the joys of science. Targeted at fifth- to eighth-graders, the Sally Ride Science Festival will encourage its pony-tailed and barretted audience to see science as a viable, vibrant career option. That Ride is using her cachet as our most famous female astronaut to champion the cause of girls in science is to be applauded; what is so dispiriting is that such efforts are still needed.

Technological experiences include utilization of technology for over twenty years throughout the constant changes and new developments. Begriming as an early gamer and programmer in the 80's from the Apple Ile, Commodore 64-128, 286 to Pentium/PIV personal computer. Experiences include graphic interface (GUI) and various operating systems include DOS, O/S2 and Windows (3.1 - XP). Internet related experiences include 15 years of access utilizing BBS, FTP, and other forms of access including the World Wide Web, email clients and Internet service providers. Computer troubleshooting and repair, cyber protection and maintenance for over 12 years.

Internet Research/ Analyst/ Strategist
Have been on the Internet through BBS, FTP other online communication software since 1993 and begun access to the World Wide Web through an ISP since January 1995.

Having the opportunity to watch the technology grow and change as the society has begun focusing on the capabilities of the Internet. Analysis is ongoing. Currently research activities include literature reviews, web site evaluations and reviews, information gathering on technology usage and issues. Research and analysis is determined by project needs. Current research needs has included issues relating to techno phobia, child care, youth programs, Internet usage and various business marketing information.

Training
Seminars, workshops and programs that include: Web Design and Development, Researching the Internet, Web Site Promotion, Introduction to the PC, Office Skills, Basic Internet use, MS Word, Online Data Mining, Techno Activism, Technology Equity and Safety, Privacy and Protection and Women and girls in technology.

Technology Consultant
Upgrades, repairs, PC other technology selections. Assisting individuals and businesses on their technology choices from hardware to software. Technology selection is determined by individual needs and assessments.

Technology Writer
Internet/Technology Editor for Dialogue, Email Newsletters, Washington Informer Newspaper and Metroconnection. These articles include web site reviews and technology issues, news, new developments and open directory guide.

Technology Conferences
These conferences include Industry networking events, updates on happenings, future innovations and how these changes will affect the society as we know it. New Ideas, innovations and challenges.

Web Designer
Seven years of web design experience. HTML and DHTML coding and debugging, Java, PHP and CGI scripts. Web site design, and desktop publishing are strengths. Sites include Universities, small business and individuals.
